Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise chefs, cooks, and other kitchen staff to maintain kitchen efficiency and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate and teach new cooking techniques and equipment use to kitchen staff, fostering skill development.
  • Prepare and cook complete meals, including pastries, sauces, soups, salads, vegetables, and meat, poultry, and fish dishes. Create decorative food displays for special events.
  • Provide guidance and instructions to cooks on food preparation, cooking techniques, garnishing, and presentation to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Develop new recipes and contribute to menu planning, including requisitioning food and kitchen supplies.
  • Assist with food preparation and cooking as needed, ensuring adherence to quality and taste standards.
  • Manage inventory by requisitioning food and kitchen supplies and maintaining relationships with vendors.
  • Supervise and oversee kitchen staff, offering training and support to maintain kitchen standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment and optimize kitchen workflows.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations in the kitchen.
  • Control food costs by minimizing waste, optimizing portion sizes, and managing inventory effectively.
  • Contribute to menu development by suggesting new dishes and conducting tastings.
  • Foster clear communication within the kitchen team to enhance collaboration and efficiency.
  • Implement sustainable practices in the kitchen, such as sourcing locally and reducing food waste.

 

Job Requirements

  • Completion of Secondary School.
  • 2-3 years of experience in commercial food preparation or completion of education in cooking/culinary.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proficient in preparing and cooking a variety of meals.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills, including experience in menu planning.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional culinary experiences and exceeding customer expectations.
