• Salary: $37.50/ hour

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Languages: English

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Sound discrimination, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Bending, crouching, kneeling, Hand-eye co-ordination, Overtime required, Work under pressure, Large workload, Tight deadlines, Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Standing for extended periods

Specific Skills

• Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications
• Instruct apprentices
• Estimate costs and materials
• Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages
• Erect and install scaffolding, falsework and other working platforms
• Smooth out excess compound and allow coat to dry
• Fabricate and install suspended metal ceiling grids and place in panels to form acoustical and coffered ceilings
• Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners
• Apply successive coats of compound and sand seams and joints
• Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets
• Tape over joints using taping machine and embed tape in compound
• Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using trowel and broad knife
• Position and secure sheets to metal or wooden studs or joists
