Position Description

Position: Plumber

Type of employment: Full-Time, Permanent

Anticipated Start date: As soon as possible.

Work Location: Various Locations in Lower Mainland, Greater, Vancouver, and Fraser Valley in BC.

Salary: $30.00 per hour

Job Responsibilities

  • Determine the layout of the plumbing system, including the water supply system and waste disposal system, using blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Prepare an estimate of the costs associated with proposed plumbing projects.
  • Identify and mark the locations of pipe joints, passage holes, and fixtures within walls and floors.
  • Prepare openings in walls and floors to facilitate pipe and fixture fittings, ensuring that the existing structure is not compromised.
  • Measure, cut, shape, and thread pipes using both manual and power tools.
  • Install, repair, and maintain residential and commercial plumbing systems.
  • Inspect pipes for leaks using air and water pressure instruments.
  • Resolve problems with water supply lines, such as obstructed drains, broken drain lines, and faulty faucets.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with colleagues and other industry professionals.
  • Record service and installation activities by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Ensure that all plumbing building codes are followed during installation, inspection, and repair.
  • Provide customer service, advise on repairs and maintenance, and explain the results.
  • Make sure the work area is clean and that the tools and equipment are in good working condition.

 

Education, Experience and Skills required

  • Completion of Secondary School.
  • Completion of apprenticeship program OR minimum 2 years of work experience.
  • Skilled in using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in English language, both written and spoken.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and other technical documents.
  • Ability to schedule work in a way that maximizes efficiency and meets deadlines.
  • Ability to identify issues and determine how to correct them.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols.
